During my trip in Lancaster City, PA we went to a place called Building Character and they sell all sorts of things from ostrage eggs to antique door knobs. I came across a box filled with wood type and my jaw dropped. I guess I did not expect to see something so closely related to my field in a small town outside of NYC. I’ve been places in the city where they let us see type setting, but its not the same. And you can buy wood type on Ebay, but it does not compare. Its probably the same reason I do not subscribe to my favorite magazine, I find it more exciting trooping to magazine stands in search of this rare magazine and it makes it more fun and it gets me out of the house. Ordering something online and getting it every month isnt fun, its mundane. However, it is very frustrating going to book stores and mag stands to find that they dont sell it or it was sold out. Anyway… Athough it was cloudy today I took my wood type outside and took photos of them. If you click on the image it will take you to my Flicker and you can see the rest.

These are not the Original toys.  My mother found this dude who makes replicas of vintage metal toys. These toys brought back an unforgettable nostalgia for her and showed me how simple and well made these old toys were.
